Wonderpeople making stuff happen!

The second ‘soup’ is nearly upon us!

Are you coming?

Have you told your friends?

Life has been pretty hectic the past couple of weeks (when isn’t it?!) and I’ve spent some time with some incredible people. It’s great how soup is connecting people together – and that includes building new friendships for me, which is always nice.

Sara and Stella will be the main chefs on Sunday; showing us what’s possible with raw ingredients. With energy prices going up and up, ‘cooking’ raw could be a useful skill for many of us. As well as putting together some tasty delights on the night, they’ll talk to us about the many benefits of eating veggies as nature intended. Stella runs raw food workshops, and there may be a chance to sign up for the next one. Sara will also be selling some of her delicious vegan chocolates. These are made with love and luxury ingredients. Sheer indulgence.

They’ve been putting in the hours in preparation for Sunday;

The same evening as the soup tasting session with Sara and Stella, we attended a meeting with Adriana, who, like many of our ‘Soupers’ is involved in numerous initiatives. Our meeting concerned her budding vision for ‘Passionate Women in Southend‘ – a series of seasonal events being planned for 2014. Events to support women to flourish – whatever their situation, whatever their strengths and skills, whatever their passions. Adriana is keen to hear from other women who would like to get involved (pop a comment below!)

Adriana is also co-founder of Amargur, an art group for children, and will be presenting on Sunday.

And on the following Saturday, I gatecrashed Southend in Transitions meeting. (SiT won the first soup – the money going towards a new roof for their community allotment shed.) Everyone had bought along delicious fayre to share and Kamil’s partner Alicja cooked us a hearty lunch. It really is a great thing, sharing food together.

Kamil led a workshop on blogging, followed by a session to get us thinking about how we effect change in the world. I was inspired by Kamil’s story about how the allotment came into being

Be patient. Stick with something and follow it through, if it feels right.’

I’m most impressed with his planning abilities – something that doesn’t come naturally to me!

Come along on Sunday – with a friend! – and meet these wonderpeople and many more. Soupers are a friendly bunch and are looking forward to welcoming you!
